What a beautiful time to share love but really, everyday should be a time to express love, not only on Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day may be riddled with flowers, hearts, chocolates and the promise of words and hope in a world of expectations and fulfillment.
…but what about those of us who have lost love and hope? There is love everywhere, it is expressed in the miracle of the breath, life, nature and wonder.
It is 1 of 365 days of the year and a suggestion to remember that the expression of a love day doesn’t mean to lose yourself in it financially, or feeling like you might miss out on a celebration or the delusion that no one cares. Who remembers those cut out Valentine’s cards handed out in classrooms in grade school and what if feels like to receive the least?
The shape of love comes in many forms and in revealing the true meaning of St. Valentine, would it not be better to celebrate love for the self and others in every moment? What if we expressed love through acts of kindness instead of buying acts of unhealthy love and sugar coated detriments to health? What about those who have lost love, lost dreams, are homeless and hungry, ill or dying?
What if, each one of us becomes more mindful on what it is that is really needing to be expressed and to whom? Is it love or it is acceptance? Is it love or a way of wanting to receive love? Is it a wavering boundary feeling pressure to spend money or is it an expression of your truth?
It, the day of, offers a subtle way to understand your love language and the shape of it…does it come from flowers, chocolates, hearts, promising words or could it be in another more beautiful mindful form? Perhaps the act of being completely present to you meaning firstly that of yourself, and your loved one(s) or someone you pass during the day might be a first step. Small acts from the heart blossom in ways that St. Valentine might have never expected.
How will you express heroic love on Valentine’s Day? An invitation to do something different!
Personal tips:
1. Sit with your own pain of lost love, and embrace the sense of it. There will be at least one person’s life you pass during the day that will have that same sense…shsssshh, be intuitive and as a suggestion, smile, compliment something beautiful about them, or pay it forward if you sense they are struggling and have lost their own love.
2. Be in stillness for a time that is set with your timer (phone, watch, alarm on your stove or what works best) from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Sit with a sense of what lost love has felt for you, raising it to the felt sense of feeling an experience of true love…trust the flow.
3. Find your balance through the feet by grounding, sit with the expansion of your heart by having both hands on your heart and feeling what love feels like. Ask that others who love you send energetic messages, and you will send them out through your thoughts.
An invitation to give love your best self, on Valentine’s day and every day.
That is a gift, your true gift to yourself and others, and a true Valentine’s gift from the spirit.
Love and more love,
Cherie
